Lexington Resident Reid Beaman Announces Campaign for SC House District 87
Lexington, SC — Reid Beaman, a father, comic artist, and community volunteer, announced today that he will file to run for the South Carolina House of Representatives in District 87.
Beaman, 36, lives in Lexington with his wife and young son. A Christian and community volunteer, his campaign will focus on protecting personal freedoms, strengthening public education, and ensuring that South Carolina’s rapid growth does not outpace the current infrastructure. Beaman said he is running to represent all residents of District 87, and plans to focus on common sense solutions that strengthen the Lexington community.
Beaman was born in Tarboro, North Carolina. His mother worked as a special education teacher and his father, a Desert Storm veteran, continues to serve patients as a physician’s assistant traveling between rural clinics.
In addition to his parents, his grandparents also played a crucial role in raising Beaman and his twin brother.
“The love, discipline, and stability my family gave us shaped the man I am today,” Beaman said. “My family are simple Southern Baptist people, the kind who help a stranger when in need.”
Beaman said the teachings of his faith continue to guide his public service.
“The teachings of Jesus Christ, and my family’s example, instilled something I try to live by every day, that is to love thy neighbor,” he said.
Over the past year, Beaman has worked with volunteers across Lexington and the Midlands, helping organize door knocking, phone banks, and other efforts to engage voters and support local campaigns. He has also fostered for Homeward Bound Animal Rescue in Irmo for the past two years.
Beaman said his decision to run was ultimately driven by his role as a father.
“I want my son to grow up in a state where opportunity is real, where our freedoms are protected, and where we treat one another with dignity and respect,” Beaman said. “That future is worth fighting for, and that’s why I’m running.”
